Understanding Thyroid Disorders

July 21, 2026

The thyroid is a small gland located in the neck that produces hormones responsible for regulating metabolism, energy production, body temperature, and many other essential functions. Thyroid disorders are common in women and may include hypothyroidism, where the gland produces too little hormone, or hyperthyroidism, where it produces too much. Symptoms of hypothyroidism often include fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, constipation, and feeling cold, while hyperthyroidism may cause weight loss, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, excessive sweating, and difficulty sleeping. Most thyroid conditions can be effectively managed through medication and regular medical monitoring. Early diagnosis helps prevent complications and supports better overall health.
