Breast Self-Examination Guide
July 21, 2026
Breast self-examination is a simple way for women to become familiar with the normal appearance and feel of their breasts. Although it does not replace professional medical screening, regular self-awareness can help identify unusual changes at an early stage. Women should look for changes such as new lumps, swelling, skin dimpling, nipple discharge, or persistent pain. Performing the examination once a month, preferably a few days after the menstrual period ends, allows the breasts to be less tender and easier to examine. Any unusual finding does not necessarily indicate breast cancer, but it should always be evaluated by a healthcare professional. Regular clinical examinations and recommended screening tests remain important parts of breast health.
